Book of shadows by cate tiernan5/28/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() She tends to move by instinct and I always find that type of character interesting. Turning to the characters in the story, I adored Morgan and her inquisitive nature in wanting to find out more. Immediately we are sunk into a 'love triangle' type of situation (which I love) between Morgan, Cal and Bree, which I really enjoyed following and finding out what happens next. ![]() Morgan also has a best friend in this story, Bree who also gets swept up in all the action. You have Morgan who is the main character and who is learning all about witchcraft and how it affects here, you have Cal who moves into the place were Morgan lives and befriends her and others, enticing them to a mysterious party. I absolutely loved the story and its predictability. ![]() I was a little disappointed that there was nothing extra but that was it. I have deliberately not put the blurb from the book at the top of this post as when I read that I thought great this story sounds amazing but as I was reading it I realised that in the blurb was everything that happened in book 1. I love everything witchy so this book is definitely right up my street. OK, so I have had this series on my shelf for at least a year now and I thought it was about time that I picked it up and read it. But I'm starting to wonder if witchcraft is choosing me. Something is happening to me that I don't understand. ![]()

Underlying this narrative throughout is the story of the sea, which allowed the islanders and their continental neighbours to be in constant contact. ![]() Using the most up to date archaeological evidence together with new work on DNA and other scientific techniques which help us to trace the origins and movements of these early settlers, Barry Cunliffe offers a rich narrative account of the first islanders - who they were, where they came from, and how they interacted one with another. From that time onwards Britain and Ireland have been continuously inhabited and the resident population has increased from a few hundreds to more than 60 million.īritain Begins is nothing less than the story of the origins of the British and the Irish peoples, from around 10,000BC to the eve of the Norman Conquest. The last Ice Age, which came to an end about 12,000 years ago, swept the bands of hunter gatherers from the face of the land that was to become Britain and Ireland, but as the ice sheets retreated and the climate improved so human groups spread slowly northwards, re-colonizing the land that had been laid waste. ![]() ![]() But I came to those adventures circuitously, at least partly via the work of the master himself, Edward Gorey, whose unmistakable North American gothic stylings jacket almost all Bellairs’ novels.
